What's inside
- Level 1: What AI Can and Can't Do in Care WorkFree
We'll start with an honest look at what AI assistants are good at and where they fall short in nursing and care roles, using dated evidence of how the profession is using them, and you'll hear early on that this course is general information, not clinical advice, so you always follow local policy and your clinical judgement. - Level 2: Patient Data and UK GDPR: What Never to PasteFree
You'll learn the basics of UK GDPR for health data and build a firm habit of never entering identifiable patient or service-user information into an unapproved AI tool. - Level 3: Confidentiality and the Caldicott Principles
We'll walk through the Caldicott principles and your duty of confidentiality, and you'll practise applying them to real decisions about whether information should ever be shared with an AI tool. - Level 4: NHS and MHRA Guidance and Clinical Safety Basics
You'll get an outline of current NHS England and MHRA guidance on AI in health and care, including when AI tools may count as medical devices, and of the DCB0129 and DCB0160 clinical safety standards and who they apply to. - Level 5: Your Professional Standards and Being Open About AI
We'll connect the NMC Code and HCPC standards to AI use, so you understand that you stay accountable for anything you sign or share, and you'll learn when and how to be honest that you used AI. - Level 6: Choosing Approved Tools and Reading Your Policy
You'll learn how to find and read your workplace AI policy, tell an approved work tool apart from a personal consumer account, and check features against current help pages, using ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Microsoft 365 Copilot as neutral examples. - Level 7: Your First Admin Prompt: Emails and Messages
We'll take one real admin task, a work email or team message, and build a clear prompt step by step, so you learn how role, context, task and format shape a good draft that contains no patient data. - Level 8: Non-Clinical Documents: Minutes, Notices and Templates
You'll use AI to turn your own rough, anonymised notes into tidy non-clinical documents such as meeting minutes, staff notices, training plans and blank templates, while keeping the facts yours. - Level 9: Checking for Accuracy, Bias and Made-Up Facts
You'll learn a repeatable checking routine to catch errors, invented references, outdated information and biased or stereotyping language in AI output before you use it. - Level 10: Plain-Language Patient Information from Approved Sources
We'll use AI to turn approved sources, such as your organisation's leaflets or national patient information, into clear, plain-language explanations, and you'll learn how to check them and get them signed off under local rules. - Level 11: Summarising Guidelines to Learn Them
You'll use AI to break down a published guideline or policy into study notes, then check the summary against the original so you truly learn the content rather than trusting a shortcut. - Level 12: Revalidation and CPD Reflections You Own
We'll use AI as a thinking partner for NMC revalidation reflections or HCPC CPD records, helping you structure your own experiences, kept anonymous, without letting it write your reflection for you. - Level 13: Using AI to Grow Your Own Judgement
You'll learn study techniques like self-quizzing, explaining a topic back and testing yourself on made-up scenarios, so AI deepens your expertise and your own clinical reasoning keeps getting stronger. - Level 14: Handover and Rota Support in Outline
We'll look in outline at where AI may support handover structure and rota planning, what has to stay human, and why only approved, integrated systems should ever touch real patient or staff data. - Level 15: Ambient Voice Technology and Scribes in Outline
You'll get an outline of AI ambient scribing tools, what current NHS England guidance and recent MHRA clarification say about them, and your role in consent, reviewing drafts and staying accountable for the record. - Level 16: Talking to Managers and Colleagues About AI
We'll practise open, constructive conversations about AI at work, from asking what's approved and suggesting a safe use case to raising a concern when a colleague is using a tool unsafely. - Level 17: Your Changing Role and a 30-Day Plan
You'll think honestly, and with real uncertainty, about how AI may change nursing and care work over the next few years, then build a personal 30-day plan to practise safe, approved AI use and keep learning. - Level 18: Final Challenge: Safe AI Across Your Whole Role Exam
In this final challenge you'll bring the whole course together, working through realistic scenarios on data protection, approved tools, checking output, patient information, learning, team workflows and honesty, and we'll finish with the reminder that this is general information, not clinical advice, so you always follow local policy and your clinical judgement.
