What's inside

  1. Level 1: What AI Can and Cannot Do in HRFree
Learners map what general AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Microsoft 365 Copilot can and cannot reliably do in HR and recruitment, using dated evidence of how the profession uses them, and learn that this course is general information, not legal advice.
  2. Level 2: Choosing Approved Tools and Following PolicyFree
Learners work out which AI tools they are allowed to use at work by reading their organisation's AI and IT policy and comparing consumer and enterprise versions on data handling, retention and training settings, checked against current vendor help pages.
  3. Level 3: Confidentiality: What Never to Paste Into a Tool
Learners apply UK GDPR principles and professional confidentiality duties to decide what employee and candidate information may go into an AI tool, and practise removing names and details before writing a prompt.
  4. Level 4: The Equality Act 2010 and Algorithmic Bias
Learners connect the Equality Act 2010 (protected characteristics, direct and indirect discrimination, and the duty to make reasonable adjustments) to the ways AI tools can produce or amplify biased results in recruitment and employment decisions.
  5. Level 5: Automated Decisions, the DUAA 2025 and ICO Guidance
Learners study the UK GDPR rules on automated decision-making as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (the new Articles 22A to 22D, in force since 5 February 2026), the ICO's November 2024 findings on AI recruitment tools, and what candidates must be told.
  6. Level 6: CIPD Guidance and a Repeatable Output Check
Learners place CIPD guidance on responsible AI use in people practice alongside a repeatable checklist for checking any AI output for accuracy, bias, made-up facts and tone before it is used.
  7. Level 7: Writing Inclusive Job Adverts and Descriptions
Learners use a structured prompt to draft a job description and advert from a role brief, then edit the output for inclusive language, essential versus desirable requirements, and accuracy about pay and conditions.
  8. Level 8: Handling the AI-Assisted Application Flood
Learners design a fair, policy-compliant process for handling high volumes of applications, many of them written with AI help, without unfairly penalising candidates or relying on unreliable 'AI detection'.
  9. Level 9: Fair Screening and When Automation Is Lawful
Learners decide where AI can support shortlisting and where a human must make the decision, applying the automated-decision rules, a DPIA and bias monitoring to a real screening workflow.
  10. Level 10: Structured Interviews and Assessments
Learners use AI to draft competency-based interview questions, scoring guides and work-sample tasks, then check them for job relevance, consistency and accessibility, while keeping assessment and scoring decisions human.
  11. Level 11: Drafting Policies and Handbooks
Learners use AI to structure and draft HR policies and handbook sections, then check them against current UK law, ACAS guidance and organisational practice before sign-off.
  12. Level 12: Writing Employee Letters With Care
Learners use templated, anonymised prompts to draft routine and sensitive employee letters, then check them for tone, legal accuracy and correct personal details, which are added only after drafting.
  13. Level 13: Onboarding and Learning Materials
Learners use AI to build onboarding plans, checklists, FAQs and short learning materials from approved source documents, checking accuracy and accessibility.
  14. Level 14: Employee Relations and People Analytics in Outline
Learners outline the limited, low-risk ways AI can support employee relations, investigations and people analytics, such as planning, structuring and question design, and the uses that must be avoided.
  15. Level 15: Disclosure and Honesty About AI Use
Learners decide when and how to disclose AI use to candidates, employees, managers and colleagues, in line with transparency duties, workplace policy and professional ethics.
  16. Level 16: Using AI to Deepen Your Own Expertise
Learners use AI as a study partner, for example to explain, quiz and challenge, so their own HR judgement and knowledge grow instead of being handed over to the tool.
  17. Level 17: Talking to Managers and Colleagues About AI
Learners prepare clear, balanced conversations with managers and colleagues about safe AI use, including answering common worries and pushing back on risky requests.
  18. Level 18: How the HR Role May Change
Learners assess how HR and recruitment roles may change over the next few years, using dated sources and honest uncertainty, and identify the skills likely to grow in value.
  19. Level 19: Building Your Personal 30-Day Plan
Learners build a practical 30-day plan to introduce safe, lawful AI use into their own work, with clear milestones, checks and points where they ask others for review.
  20. Level 20: Final Challenge: Fair and Lawful AI End to End Exam
Learners work through a full recruitment-to-onboarding scenario that tests every part of the course, from tool choice and data protection to equality law, automated decisions, output checking, disclosure and human judgement.
